We notified C.F. Martin & Co. that we shall not be renewing our dealership in 2010, as we wish to focus more intently on our banjo line and some more "boutique" lines of hand-built guitars. We still have many new Martins in stock that are fully warranted, but which will not be replaced after they are sold and are now at close-out prices. 26 Jan: Deering WALNUT Maple Blossom bluegrass banjo. A usually maple instrument (duh.), this one is made of spectacular walnut.

26 Jan: We made publically the following offer: "In an effort to contribute to the relief efforts in Haiti, ZEPP Country Music will donate 100% of proceeds from the next non-consigned banjo we sell for $1000 or more to aid for Haiti."

Well, on 25 January, "Jerry" purchased a used Wildwood Heirloom for $1999, and we immediately donated his $2000 to Americares. Americares spends >99% of donations on projects, and was one of the first charities to get medical supplies on the ground in Haiti. Please consider visiting their website and helping out some more.

24 Jan: Recording King RK-R25 and RK-O25 "Madison" entry level banjos. The RK-R25 is a tube and plate, resonator banjo; the RK-O25 is a bracket shoe open back model. 3-ply maple rim.

• Ryan Cavanaugh, of the band The Ryan Cavanaugh Trio and winner of the 2003 Merlefest and 2004 Rocky Grass banjo contests, stopped in to try banjos in December of 2003. Ryan lives in Chapel Hill, NC, and is accepting banjo students: you can contact him at banjoryan@hotmail.com.
• In October 2003 we had an unexpected, yet most welcome visit from British folk legend Martin Carthy. Sorry, no Martin MC Carthy signature editions in stock, but it was nice to see him! He wasn't hawking guitars, anyway, but stopped in with Tom MacKenzie, a musician who had taken lessons from me ca. 1970 and who wanted to stop by to say "hello."
• OK, it's nothing for sale, but my good friend and builder of excellent banjos, Mike Ramsey stopped in the store for a visit 28 August 2003. So, of course, I had to get a photo of us (I'm the old one on the right)
